Trade Review: Where the Edge Actually Compounds

The trade is over the moment you exit. Reviewing it is where you decide what to repeat and what never to do again.

Why reviewing beats trading more

  • More trades without review just compounds the same mistakes faster.
  • Review is where you learn what works and what does not — the one thing no chart pattern will tell you on its own.
  • It converts experience into a process, and a process is what survives a drawdown.
  • Traders who improve study their own trades more than they study the market.

What to look for in a review

  • Which setups actually paid — by setup type, not by luck. Repeat those.
  • Which mistakes recur — by type, not by incident. Eliminate those.
  • The size of your winners versus your losers. The ratio matters more than the win rate.
  • Your state at entry. The best setups fail when you are tilted; the worst work when you are calm.

How to review in the simulator

  • Replay any past trade to see the chart again with the outcome hidden, then decide if you would take it the same way.
  • Compare your repeats: the setups you ran more than once, and how each one ended.
  • Spot the one mistake you keep making — that single fix is worth more than a dozen new strategies.
  • Turn the review into one rule for the next session. One rule, repeated, is how an edge is built.

Practice this — risk-free

The WallStreet Billionaire simulator runs your trades against real historical charts with a virtual balance. Replay your simulator trades, sort them into repeat and never-again, and turn the review into one rule for the next session.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I review trades?+

After every session is ideal, weekly at minimum. The longer the gap, the more the lesson fades. The simulator keeps every trade replayable, so review costs you nothing but attention.

What is the single most useful review question?+

"Would I take this trade again, the same way?" If yes, it goes in the repeat pile. If no, it goes in the never-again pile. Over time those two piles are your entire edge.
